Culture by Train (Full Day w/Lunch)
09.00 hrs Travel back in time as you journey through the scenic Borneo countryside in a diesel train. Mangrove swamps, villages, smiling children and wallowing buffaloes pass by the window as this almost century old train ambles slowly along its rails to the agriculture town of Papar. Visit the local market for an insight of the traditional livelihood of the Kadazandusun people here. The journey continues in a motor vehicle with a stop in Penampang to see the macabre remains of a warrior’s headhunting prowess at the House of Skulls.

09.00 hrs Step off the well-trodden tourist trails and explore Borneo’s rugged countryside. Stop by an orchard for a panoramic view of the forested hills north of the city. On a clear day you will be rewarded with majestic views of Mt. Kinabalu in the distance. Explore a typical Dusun village on a 30-minute trek, walking across a hanging bridge and crossing mountain rivers (water level varies from knee to thigh high). Enjoy a relaxing dip in the soothing waters of a fast flowing river – nature’s natural Jacuzzi! 09.00 hrs Stand on the northern most tip of Borneo, where the South China Sea meets the Sulu Sea. Here, races from these seas have come ashore many hundred years ago to settle the coastal plains where the inhabitants have retained much of their traditional way of life. Mingle with the Bajaus and Dusuns at the local market before visiting the home of a Land bajau family to learn about the art of making parang" (a Malaysian sheath-knife). Continue your journey north for a simple meal with teh Rungus people, well known for their traditional communal Longhouse dwelling, beadwork and weaving skills. After lunch, drive through coconut plantations to Simpang Magayau, the northern most point of Borneo as you span the seas on this rocky cape.

Manukan Island (Full Day w/BBQ Lunch)

09.00 hrs Sun, sea, sand – and a scrumptious BBQ lunch. Take a 20-minute boat ride to the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park for a day of some serious relaxation. Swim or snorkel in the blue South China Sea. Or just settle down with a good book while your lunch sizzles on the BBQ pit.

1600 hrs Return to the mainland and transfer back to respective hotels.

Full day Mt. Kinabalu Park & Poring hot springs

09.00 hrs The jagged granite peaks of Mt. Kinabalu (4095m) towers above one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world. Nominated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Kinabalu Park is a natural wonder that offers day visitors a glimpse into the fascinating and often unique world of plant and animal life within the park. The montane oak and chestnut forest at park headquarters gives way to lowland dipterocarp forest at Poring on the eastern boundary. Enjoy a short trek through the rainforest and witness life in the treetops as you walk along the 100ft high Canopy Walkway (If closed, it will be replaced with a visit to the Tropical Garden).
Adjourn for lunch at the Kinabalu Park. Take a short trek at one of the mountain trails and visit the Mountain Garden.
17.00 hrs Late afternoon, return to hotel in the city.

Raincoat, insect repellent, water bottle. Wear good walking shoes & light jacket (Temperature at park is 25C. For those who wish to dip in the pool, bring swimwear, towel & toiletries

Kiulu White Water Rafting (Full Day w/Lunch)

Total distance rafted: 10 Km. River Grade: 1 to 2.

08.00 hrs Northbound by combi-van or coach towards the lush valleys of Mount Kinabalu takes you pass the busy industrial towns of Inanam and Menggatal. As you approach the sleepy town of Kiulu in Tamparuli District careful selection is made by the river guide for a suitable starting point. Upon arrival, you will be introduced to the use of the equipment and briefed on the safety and rafting techniques.The ride down one of Borneo’s scenic rivers over gentle rapid offer picturesque views of lush green forests and Dusun orchards and villages. Lunch is inclusive.
15.00 hrs Return to city in the mid-afternoon.

Change of clothes, Towel, Shoes, Slippers, Sun block, Insect repellent, water proof camera (optional).

Sepilok Orang Utan Centre – Wildman of Borneo (Full Day w/Lunch)

0900 hrs Come face to face with the famed Wildman of Borneo! Meet this remarkable creature in its natural habitat as they learn to survive once more in the teeming jungles of Borneo. A raised wooden walkway takes you to the observation deck where orang utans slowly emerge from the rainforest to be fed by the rangers. Take in panoramic views of Sandakan from the magnificently adorned Buddhist temple, Puh Jih Shih. After lunch, explore the markets and water villages before catching your flight back.

What to bring:

Raincoat, hat & insect repellent. Use good walking shoes. Comfortable cotton T-shirt with long or short pant recommended.
